ok, the whole front end is shot, tie rods, bushings, center link, the whole tamale! i do need help, which cars, and i dare say even non riviera cars, can i yank from the bone yard, and put in my '67 rivira.. im quite dissapointed in myself but desperate times call for desperate measures. HELP!
My suggestion is this: do not pull suspension parts out of the junkyard unless there is no other alternative in the world. The parts you get from a boneyard are probably in much the same condition as the parts that are no good. Don't labor mightily to put in used parts that will last you another 10K miles before you must replace them again. Or even worse, that will fail as you drive down the street. Check www.hemmingsmotornews.com Get a Hemmings magazine Call Kanter (sp?) parts. they have ads in all the car mags If at all possible, use quality new parts. Moog was the original equipment manufacturer back then as far as I know. I still get parts in original Moog boxes from a place around here called Then and Now automotive. They had my head gaskets on the shelf. they had my ball joints and tie rod ends on the shelf, too. I really hate to see a car guy struggle with replacing crummy worn out parts with crummy, soon to be worn out parts. It's bad enough you must do the work, don't have to do it twice:TU:
Used Parts Wisely spoken - Chris ! Replacement parts are readily available Noah, and if your capable of DIY, so much the better! You'll save labour costs, and you get to know your car a whole lot better. :Smarty: :Smarty: :Smarty:
putting on a new (lifetime warranty)part takes half th time as taking from a donor and putting on a questionable used part. www.p-s-t.com lifetime warranties most of their parts now. reasonable prices and and good customer support. what price can you put on you and your passengers safety? think about this .... lets say you buy a salvage yard used tie rod end and it breaks and puts you in a ditch just bending your fender ... what will you have to pay for a fender AND all the related repair time just cos you saved a few bucks on the used part .. people used to get upset when i would turn down installing old used-up or cheap-crappy stereos in their cars ... and i always told them... "very few people regret doing something right, especially when they have seen the consiquences of it being done wrong." i didnt want them showing off what i knew wasnt right and then associating me with that work. lets do it right and enjoy the results.:TU:
