I'm having a little water problem, it seems to be getting in through the back winshield, unfortunetly i dont have the chrome metal plates that go around the windshield...where can i find those.
do you think the water is getting in because those chrome plates are not there? please help

    thanks :TU:

the trim will not stop water.

you COULD just have a sealing problem with the window, but unfortunately, i'd venture to guess it's probably from rust eating away at the channel.

GM engineers were absolutely clueless during the entire 1960's era cars, with respect to windshield and rear window seating. The channels they engineered for these cars were to get a "flush" look. Unfortunately, they gave no thought as to how to channel the water away from the channel when it gets in. The result is rust through in only a couple of years.

Early Mustang owners are all too familiar with this problem, as their cowls would fill with water and rot right out.

Sorry to say you will need to pull the rear window and have the bad metal cut out and new metal welded in, it isn't easy, and most body shops won't even touch it.

You can sandblast the area (wirewheel sin't as effective) and use fiberglass and POR15. But every rain and car wash just adds to the problem. You'll still have the rust on the back side.
