I have a Thermoquad off of a 360 Mopar and was wondering if the calibration would be close enough to work on a 350 Buick. Any ideas or answers on the possibilities? Bob H.
Thanks for the replies John and Larry. I have a couple of them from 360 Mopars I think I will get a kit and give it a whirl. I still have to round up a 4 barrel manifold. Bob H.
I put an 800 CFM Thermoquad on my first GS without even opening it up. It was a '72 GS350 I gave to my son after building a motor for it. It was a mild build with a KB118 cam and 9.8 compression. The carb bolted right up to the stock manifold with a spacer and was very well mannered. The car went Low 14s at 100 MPH on street radials and got about 17 MPG on a trip to the GS Nats. I liked this carb.
in process now of regasketing 360 in my truck . added an edelbrock 2176 performer , headers , dual exhaust . stock thermoquad worked ok so i'm gonna give it a quick blast of carb clean , throw er back on , go from there . friend of mine retired from nysp barracks garage , liked those carbs and had good luck rebuilding them . he had an extra early 80's svc manual he gave me . has a lot of the TQ specs - let me know if a quick list of those would help ya out .
I tried one too and still have it. I liked it and I ran faster with this carb. The only problem I had was it was flooding out after it was on the floor. would like to try it again. A lot of guys were using this carb in the 80's but hardly anyone talks about them. The car ran like a freight train with it. Those secondaries were huge. Liked watching those back flaps open up when floored.
the aftermarket versions ran up to 1000 cfm . it might have been those used with good results on the nailheads with the 66 QJ intake . it was in some old KB literature I rec'd I think . andf I think they said that was the fastest ( at the time ) NA carb combination .
