A Toyota sport utility vehicle is sandwiched between tractor trailer trucks Wednesday Feb. 27, 2002 on Interstate 65 south of Lebanon Junction, Ky. The lone person in the vehicle survived. Ice on a bridge is said to have caused the 18 car pile up on a rural stretch of highway. No one was killed in the accident. 3. Miami police detectives investigate an accident involving a bus carrying elderly passengers from a community center and a car in Miami. The bus carrying the elderly for a community center crashed into a home Thursday, critically injuring a female passenger who was ejected through a window. At least 11 other people were injured in the crash, which happened when the bus was struck by a car that ran a stop sign, police spokeswoman Herminia Salas Jacobson said. 4. San Francisco police officers investigate a crime scene accident in the Sunset district in San Francisco. Police said the driver of a suspected stolen car in the foreground was trying to elude police when he crashed into the van in the backround, which caused the van to collide with two parked cars. Police said the Items that fell out of the stolen car were stolen. The suspect was captured and hospitalized, along with two people riding in the van. 5. A Newton, Mass., police officer, left, and a tow truck driver survey a car that smashed into the front entrance of Anton's dry cleaner in Newton,injuring the clerk. The driver of the vehicle, described by authorities as an elderly woman, was not injured in the accident. 6. Bill Goss comforts his injured dog next to his overturned car in East Montpelier, Vt. Slippery roads caused Goss to slide off the road, but he was not injured, though the dog suffered a cut. Winter weather caused accidents throughout the state. 7. A group of Busch Series drivers crash on the backstretch of Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama. Nearly half of the 43-car field of the NASCAR Busch Series Aaron's 312 race were damaged in the mishap. There were no reports of serious injuries though. 8.
