You never know who lurking. No seriously, It was tagged over in the A-12 (M-Code Bee and Runner) site that I visit. I didn't do anything to the car except a little detailing when I got the car the second time. Somebody I am sure is happy with the car now but all I wanted to do is tear it apart and go straight through it again. I decided to start with a rough one and kiss this one good bye as I had to much money in it already (The second time you buy it always cost more :(
Take Care Gary. Get Bob and come over some weekend and check out the new garage. Paint booth is up and we are nearly running.

Here's some pics of Reid's Bee, and the falling down barn it came out of. In the pics note the early 70's Maine plates still on the car and the DUST.

    '69 GTO in Rockland

    carguy,
Ever get over to Rockland? Was in Rockland for Fisher school and while looking around one day I saw a GTO in a run-down garage, blue in the back w/ an orange front clip. Looked like it hadn't seen the light of day in years. Had a pic somewhere..........

Last weekend ,a friend of mine and I stumbled onto a real diamond in the rough.

It started out by making good on a visit to a fellow AMC friends place ,where we were going to check out his cars, some parts he had for sale, and generally to share a few stories/laughs. We'd also planned on visiting someone else I knew of in the area ,but only if time permitted.

Time flew by, so after purchasing some parts, and having a great time ,it was time to go.

Since we had stayed longer than anticipated, we almost didn't pursue the second part of the trip.

I cold called the second party and to our surprise ,not only did he have time to see us,but he was on the way home.

Earlier this year, the second party had mentioned to me that he had a correct, early 1971 AMC 401 motor for sale. I'd been searching for one for my 71 401 4spd Jav..

While I have him on the phone,he tells me that while yes,he does have an early 71 401 for sale, there's a problem. The problem is that it is still in the car and that he wants to sell the whole thing. When I inquired as to what car it was in,thinking it might be in an Ambassador or something,he tells me that it's in a Javelin /AMX.Of course I was intrigued but wanted to stay reserved till we saw it.

Well the car was rough, but mostly complete and happened to be optioned nicely ie; 71 Javelin/AMX 401 auto,"Go Package", Mustard Yellow,Black vinyl "T" style roof, Black courduroy interior,A/C,power steering,AM/FM stereo, you get the picture.

These 401 71's Jav/AMX's are rare and the most desirable of the 71-4 cars.

Well needless to say ,we went back the next day and bought the whole thing.

The guy was the second owner ,and get this. Not only did he have a lot of paper work to go with the car ,including the "protecto plate" ,but he also had the mintest ,never installed ,window sticker, that he gave to us! :eek2: Still had the unpeeled tape strips on the side of it.

And the price? Well let's just say Brian Stefina would be proud! :beer

Not only was the weekend an adventure, but we got to meet some great car guys to boot! :beer

    Right under opur noses????????

He found that Bee in the old Edmore Inn? There was a lot of screeching and howling along with desperate pleas of livestock in the middle of the night when we stayed there once (never again), but I had no idea they had a neat car in there.

Looked at a '71 Z28 yesterday. Still wearing original paint & vinyl roof. 11300 miles on it, 1/4 mile at a time. Original owner raced it from new. Chopped up a bit but body shop advises easy resto.. Tubbed in the rear & the door beams are cut out.Roll bar to come out too. New owner, same fellow that has the '67 Comet 428/4 speed, plans on a restoration back to original.

    Donny, Thanks for the congrats!

Both my friend and I are AMCrazy (you have to be a little crazy to like um),and after a little discussion,we decided that this one would go to him. He's a cool cat,and I could tell he was really ,Really into it. He deserves this one!

It's gunna take quite a bit of wax though. Parts procurement has already acheived liftoff!

Shy of a miracle, I don't think that it will be at the next years event.

I'm already juiced about next years event though! As a newbie this year, my son and I had a blast, Great event ,run ,participated in,and attended by, great people.

Can't wait for winter shindig! :beer

Mark Dantonio, new head coach for Michigan State, and Noel's next nightmare. Very similar scenario to Bo Schembeckler as he was an assistant to some of the best, then smaller college head coach, and now on to the big times.

I'm amazed anyone gets through all the P.C. crap they're using to try to influence who gets these jobs. Word was both Nick Saban and Tom Izzo had a say in his choice, this time, not just Joel Freguson.

Here's what the MSU president said after they announced the firing of John L. Smith and before the search for the new coach began. What a crock of smelly stuff. How about someone who can win games? That's why they fire these coaches (other than Gary Moeller who was setup with a drug thing).

    Early November:

MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon: I thank you for the support of Spartan football, this year and over many years. Your loyalty is to be commended. I know we share goals for a football program that is: (1) competitive on the field with student-athletes who will be competitive in their chosen fields when they leave MSU; (2) above politics and above reproach; (3) a magnet drawing students, alumni, faculty, staff and our stakeholders closer to the University; (4) consistent on the field, but also consistent in values, success and traditions across the inevitable transition of presidents, athletic directors, and coaches; and (5) helping to enhance the international reputation of the university.

You could achieve all of the above "goals" , but if you don't win at least 2 of these games: UM, OSU, ND, you're in trouble, and if you don't beat any of them, your ass is grass.

    Life in the big city.

    That's such a great story!!

I'm a bit of a closet Mopar guy myself, in fact, I'd like to find a real nice 70 Coronet R/T vert some day. Either that or build a nice clone car.

    Here's another story for you:

Apparently, there was but one lone 70 Coronet R/T Hemi car ever sold new in Canada, and it sold right here in Winnipeg. The story went that it was hit pretty hard broadside some time in the early 70's, and totalled. :ball:

Well, just a couple months ago, my brother tells me that he knows where this car is. It is supposedly parked in a garage only a few miles from his house, and he's spoken with the present owner about possibly seeing it. Of course, I told him to try to count me in on that visit. :Brow: :TU:

It would be interesting to find out if this is the real deal or not.

a lady on the Corvette Forum just offered up this story titled "A Christmas Story"

Most of you probably read my post about getting my car started Sunday. I had a friend of my deceased Grandfather, whom I had never met before, come assist me at setting the timing. He was probably 65 years old or so. Has a garage in his back yard where he messes with old cars.

While we working on my Vette my 10 year old son was standing to the side watching. The gentlemen asked my son if he was going to take over my vette when he turned 16. My son's response was "I'm gett'n a 69 Mustang." My son has loved Mustangs since he was 2. We all laughed and joked for a while and my son went in the house.

The gentle then asked me if I was considering getting my son his dream car. I told him that I would love to get him one but that I was going to wait until he was 13. I wanted him to be able to help with a top to bottom restoration.

Now let me tell you about my son before I continue. He is All-American, 100% boy. He races dirt bikes, hunts, etc. He is very mature for his age. His dad and I are divorced and his father doesn't spend much time with him at all. I do my best to be mom and dad. I ain't going raise no sissy!!!!

Back to my story. The sweet gentlemen left my house and told me if I needed anything to let him know.

I get home today and in my driveway was a 1969 Mustang Fastback!!!
I got out of my car and immediately called the gentlemen, whose name is David. Clearly he has call waiting because he answered, "now it needs work, but I think it will work for you". I was speechless. He then told me the title was signed and in the glove box. He said he knew he had bought it for his son a few years back and it had been sitting ever since. He then told me that he knew the car would be a learning experience for my son and to enjoy helping him with it.

It has a 6 cyl. pony engine that runs great. Needs a paint job and interior restoration. One spot of rust was all I could find.

I'm still in shock. I'll post some pictures later for all to see.

Oh by the way, I asked him why in the world he was giving the car to me for free because I would have been happy to buy it. He said that he believed what goes around, comes around. If only more people had that attitude.

    Happy Holidays To All

Rich you are a sly fellow but I know where that car now resides! And I heard about that fun trip.

It will look nice next Rich Rinke's Mustard yellow '71 Go Pack. Two of the same cars in a couple weeks very cool.

PS We started John's '72 401 Go Pack 4spd on Wed and broke the cam in. It sounds great and runs well. I am happy with the motor! Hopefully all us PS guys can convince John to race it next year. We will bust a hump on it Saturday to have it ready for him.

Mark, Funny how these things go sometimes.
Important thing here is that the cars ,regardless of make, are landing in the hands of good friends ,and good people, who deserve and will covet them. :TU:

I think that the people on this forum ,especially ,like to read these stories, because we're all on the same page.Get the cars into the hands of the people who will restore the cars the way we like um ,"Stock". The factories generally had it down and there's something about that stock look that can't be beat!

That's great news on John's car! I believe everything is set up.
Knowing that Rich would finally do the car was a bonus early on.
Knowing that you are involved is the icing on the cake ,and is greatly appreciated by John and I. :beer

I think John will come around to the PS thing. It would be a nice compliment to the already awsume line up of cars. He's a smart cookie and a good friend,he just has'nt had enough exposure to the stock thing yet.

Now we need to keep working on Rinke! I've been trying to get him there for two years now. I think his involvement this year put him over the edge ,and we should see him there next year. At least I hope so, he's a great guy!
