I would go with a 18X8 in front. The rear 18X9.5 will be fine. I have 18X8(4.75 BS) fronts and 19X10.5(6.5BS)rears on my 70 GSX replica with Ridetech suspension.
I'm going to order a new set of wheels for my 72 GS I'm having painted. I was thinking of 22's in the back and 20's up front, but I don't know if that would be too much rim in the back and not enough tire. Anyone have this combo?
I did some measurements on my '69 before I ordered my front 18X8s and rear 20x10s. I took one of the 20x9 with 245/45 off my Chrysler and put it on the Buick. There is plenty of room in all directions if you would go for a 10 inch wide wheel with 0 offset. For 22s I have not seen any other "non-pickup-tire" than 265/35 and that has an even bigger diameter. 81 mm more than 235/60-15, 16 more than 275/40-20 which I am going to try.
fredrik I have the 275/40/20 on my car now and they fit just fine. Add some pictures of your 69 when you put on your wheels so we can see how it looks.
Hey Nike, I think your tire/rim combo sounds perfect for my car as well. Did you ever get these on yours? If so, How did it turn out? Thanks, Steve
Finally got everything as it should be! Ridler 695s 20x10 rear, 18x8 front. ET 0. Oversized tires 245/45-18 and 275/40-20 giving roughly 1/2" raise up front and 1.5" at the rear. Lowered almost 3" front and 1.5" rear shortly after Love the stance, the bulky rear of the Skylark needed really big wheels to "settle". Rubs on arches only up front when I am getting close to lock when parking. And that is only due to the aggressive 3 inch drop I gave it. The Ridlers where cheap, and it shows. Just under 800. Not all edges are rounded off, but you can't see that from three feet anyway. I wanted chrome, but not the dissapointment with poor finish, so I went for silver/machined. Still looks awesome. The lip on the rear wheel is bitchin. I saw a thread on a Caprice forum where they compared 10 inch Boss 338 and Ridler 695 and the Boss had a narrower lip. My choice was easy, even though the Ridlers are made in China.
Wide lip, 4" or so. Center caps are cheap plastic, but look nice from a distance. Not perfectly rounded off edges, but you dont see that either from a few feet. Excellent value for money, though.
Need more Pro Touring pics and setups guys! Give your suspension setup too along with your wheel/tire sizes and offsets! I'll be home in a little over a month and will get mine up as soon as possible!
