So what would be the symptoms be on a quadrajet if the throttle body needed bushings for the butterfly rods?
The factory tolerance was a little too loose so they pull in a little air right from day one. Since no bushings were used by the factory even with Teflon coated shafts they wore pretty hard especially on the drivers side where the linkage and return spring are hooked up. On high mileage units it's not uncommon to see enough play at the primary shaft that they will not only have all the symptoms mentioned above the engine RPM at idle can vary some every time the carb returns to idle. I highly recommend installing bronze bushings in every Q-jet as part of the rebuilding process. The only exception would be Marine units as the vast majority of those will show little if any wear at all beyond the factory tolerances.......Cliff
