..for the Riv. My paint guy is now well enough to leave his house and resume work on my Riv. I woulds like a BUICK color gold, bit one with some pizzaz to it. Steve asked me if wanted some really outlandish flake and/pearl/candy thrown in, as that's how my uncle did his custom cars (although that was back in the gaudy days).:idea2: I don't really understand my options here. Some tiny-med flake maybe. I'm not going for the Huggybear pimp look:laugh: . I do want it to be mettalic AND Buick....

    Whatcha got?????:beer

All of your automotive golds will be metallic so it's just a matter of picking the color you like. I would go to your local automotive paint store and see if they still have the old color chip books and spend some time looking through them, find a few possibilities, write down the paint years and codes, then try to find a car of that year with that color on it. It's better to get a vision of what your car will look like when you can actually see it on a car rather than just in a paint chip. Or, you could just take the color books to the Saints and match up a color with their official colors. Or, you could go green and gold since the Packers are the ones going to the Super Bowl this year

My car strarted life as color code 53 Cortez Gold. It will not end its life that color. The golds buick had in the 70s had no POP. If you pick a gold I recomend staying away from the Cortez, Just my thoughts

I picked 1976 anniversary corvette gold. Just a hair brighter than the 70 Buick color and I got it in base/clear.

The original paint was lacquer and faded badly, and you're right it didn't have any pop after that.

I would highly recommend Cortez Gold, especially if it is base/clear. It has metal flake and pearl in it, and looks great with a white top/interior.

Re: Time to pick Gold paint....SHOW ME CORTEZ GOLD!!!

    Brian,

Trust me. That certainly occurred to me, as that would be in the style my old uncle used to do with dragsters and flopper cars back in the day. My painter used to know him from when He was young. He is very ill and this car will have love put into the work. He is very particular as was my uncle. Steve literally be redoing my car from his wheel chair as he has takin' very ill. That is why no work has been done in several months. I don't know if I want to put apon him any more than I already am. :(
Heck, he said" well since it's gonna be half black, it's gonna have to be 100% perfect!!!!:TU:

He did find me a old-school pin-striper who is coming out of retirement to pull some lines. He knew my uncle "The big angry German"aka"Tiny" nearly 50 years ago. All these people have been put here now -maybe for a reason.:)

That Cortez Gold suuuure is purdy!!!!!
    Might have a winner!!!!
    And thanks for the suggestions

1970 Baja Gold...was a gto color, and crosses over to buick

1970 Cadillac gold, dont know the technical name , but its very high metallic, and a deluxe color youd expect on a Caddy, ive seen a 70 skylark that was special ordered that color....its special order on any GM and had a premium price...i mean way up there...:dollar:
