timeing on 70 455 buick

    I have a 70 buick 455 motor, and Im trying to set the timeing, but my book tells me to look at the label in the car, but I dont have the label..good help the book is huh. so I was wondering if any of u guys would know. and oh yeah the motor came out of a electra 225 so any help wouldbe great. thanks

    Check the distributor #. If it is a stock 70 455 distributor, it should be #1111984. That distributor is set at 6* BTDC, and gives a total timing of 30-34* at 4600 RPM. You can wake the motor up considerably by recurving the distributor to bring in the total advance at 2500 RPM. Do a search on this BB on Ignition Timing. You'll have plenty to read, and it will explain everything.
