The frame is out of the car so no weight on the suspension. If I remember, the spring compressor I have won't fit in between the front a-rms. Besides using a ratchet strap to compress the front springs and/or a-arms what the best/safest way to install front springs on a bare chassis? Thanks
Long piece of all-thread, nuts/washers, & a small steel plate on the bottom. I put a piece of rubber between the plate & control arm to keep from scratching the bottom of the arm. Mine is pretty handy & I'll be in the shop later & can post a pic but it's a simple set-up, super safe, & doesn't scrach up the spring.
Run a chain around the frame and connect it to the front axle of a floor jack, then jack the lower control arm up to install the spindle.
I've done it a few ways....chain under the jack....sand bags on the cradle ....truck bumper backed over the rails....bobcat bucket set on the rails If the engine trans is in it..you can put the jack at the very end if the lca and it will compress just enough but you can't have the brake dust shield on
Don't forget that control arm bushings don't get torqued until frame is sitting at finished ride height. Devon
I went with the sketchy ratchet strap knowing the I had the jack under the arm to minimize catastrophe..
The all thread and washers work so well. And you can use an impact gun for ease & speed if you weld the nut on!
