What is the MAXIMUM size BFG TA radial that will fit properly without rubbing with stock 15x7 Rallyes? I really want to fill the wheelwell nicely. I'm thinking 275/60 in the back and 255/60 in the front.

    Opinions?

    Thanks, Frank

The 275 will fit on the back on a factory rim, but it will look a little bulgy. A 255 is really the largest that fits well and looks good. The 255 will fit on the front, just make sure your suspension is not sagging at all or you can having rubbing problems.

I have 295/50's in the rear, and 275/50's in the front. I have run these sizes on several GS's over the years, and have always liked the way it looks. They will fit on the 7'' stock rim (slight sidewall bulge), and fill the fenderwells up. I can post or email pics if you want.

    Frank,
They do not rub. These pics may not be the right angle to show you what you want to see. I can take more if you tell me what you want. Does my convertible look familiar?

Holy cow. I guess I stand corrected and bigger is really better.

Wow, you got 275/50's on the front on stock wheels with no rubbing!?!?!? Do you mean 275/60's on the front? They look to be BFG Radial T/A's.

I'd love to see some better pics of that. Also, what brand of tire are they? Do you know what the tire's dimensions are? Tread width, section width, overall diameter.

    Phil,
They are BF Goodrich Radial T/A's. The fronts are 275/50/15's, and the rears are 295/50/15's. I don't have any close-up pics of the front tires, but will be glad to take some this evening and post them. It is very close to rubbing on the front fender where the wheel opening moldiding lip is at the bottom, but it doesn't rub. I will take a few pics tonight and try to show you. As far as the exact tire dimensions, I don't have those (they should be available on their website). I can measure the tread width and overall height if you want.

I'll definitely have to check out those tires and their dimensions. I'd love to see pics of them, especially turned lock-to-lock.

Your backspacing is probalby not what it need to be. What is the backspacing on the rims you currently have on the car?

If you put bigger than 245s on the front you are asking for trouble.

No, the car has not been lowered. The tires are 50's, so they are not as tall as the 60's are, and I'm sure that is the reason they don't rub. I have had four different cars with these tire size combos, on factory 15x7 rally wheels, and have never had any problems. It's dark outside now, but I promise I will take more pics and measurements tomorrow.

    In what way?

Just curious since this is nearly a definite for me (albeit on wider wheels)

I'd like to know too. Rubbing? Handling?
