Chris, you have 255/60/15 on 15x8 rears and 15x7 fronts? Any pictures out there of these, Im going to be in the market for the same setup
Hi Curtis, Yes, that is exactly what I did - I should have some pics saved on my computer - will look and post them here in a minute.
Here are two pics Curtis - one with the old 15x7 & 15x8 rally wheels I had and one with the 15x7 & 15x8 super sport wheels - both photos show the same 255x60x15 tires all around.
That's about the size of the 325's Im running. Rolling the lip is a good idea. A cut tire would suck. Mine still rub the frame a little if I hit a driveway just right.. JUst makes a noise. No problem..
Here are some photos of 275/60 on 15x8 (rear) and 245/60 on 15x7 (front): Side View Front Quarter View Rear Quarter View Close Up of 275/60 Sorry, the lighting isn't the greatest but they don't rub!
Just an update... I went with the BF Goodrich TA Radials on the 15x8 rallys in 255/60-15's... They're awesome Tight on the front fenders when turning, but if your fenders are aligned right, should be no problems.
Curtis, I absolutely love your silver mist gs. Awesome, I love that color on the 70 gs, its my favorite. Fast with Class!!!
If I may hijack this (old) thread: Is there anyone in the Eastern MA area who could loan me one full-size rally wheel? I don't care how rusty it is as long as it isn't warped. I want to try it on my Buchev pickup for clearence. I really wanted to use '96 Chevy Impala SS aluminum wheels, but they will not clear the upper control arms in front. Believe it or not, I would also like to try one of the '50s era Kelsey-Hayes Skylark wire wheels if anyone has one. Someone recently said that they can still be purchased new. Pricey, but they would look awesome! I can try either one while it's owner waits, so you don't even have to trust me. Thanks!
I know this is an old post... These are BFG tires, not sure if they still make this size anymore. The closest would be a 30x11-15 drag radial I think. I have the 285/70/15 BFG tires mounted on my 15X10 wheels for the street and at the track I will swap over to my 15x8 wheels with 275/60/15 ET streets. This way I am at 2250 RPMS on the highway at 60 MPH with the street tires and when I hit the track I have a shorter, lighter wheel. :beers2:
Yeah, the 285/70s cut the gear down nicely for cruising. Had to put lower springs in rear it sat up so much. Pretty tight squeeze. Poor mans overdrive. I drove my at the time mid-10 sec GS with 3.73 gears 3 hrs to Etown to race and back years ago.
