Trying to decide what tires to go with on my 67' and was wondering if anyone could explain to me what means what when talking about a tire size? Like the whole 245/75-25(for example) broken down? Sorry if I sound like a bonehead, never known that's all.
In your example, you'd have a 245 (mm) wide tire, with a sidewall that is 75% of the width of the tire (183.75 mm), mounted on a 25" wide rim (!?). Of course not every manufacturer's measurments will be exactly the same. So one company's 245/60-15 may not be exactly the same as another company's tire with the same listing.
Thanks for the quick reply. Always wanted to know about that. Does anyone know a good tire vendor on the net? What I am specifically looking for are wide tires to accomodate 15x8 to 15x10's with a large whitewall side. Any ideas on those ever seen before? I tried Coker Tire but they don't make them any wider than the skinnies I have now. Thanks.
I also think www.tirerack.com is the place to go. They also have a tech section that will tell you everything you need to know about tires. They have all the specs on the tires too like diameters, wear ratings ect. Mark
Re: Re: Tire sizing explanation Steve, 25 is not the width of the rim, but the diameter. Width is told in a J figure like 7J or 10 J
Thanks guys, The Tire Rack didn't have exactly what I was looking for, I doubt anyone will have tires like that, but I saw some that I liked as well. Thanks
