I have a 68 Riv that I would like to put some 18-20" rims on. Can anyone give me the rim width and back spacing that I need and max tire size to fit?
    Thanks

First let me say "please don't."

I'll bet no one has the answers from experience because you're so far out there. You can figure this out yourself by measuring the backspacing (aka offset) on the spare.

Then go to a website like tirerack.com and start digging into wheels and tires. Stick with stock width (225?) and look for tires that match the diameter or, better, revolutions per miles. They've got those specs in tabular format if you look at tires by brand and model.

Have you held up a wheel like that next to the car to get the full effect?

It can be a good look. Here is a pic of a 67 from the 2006 ROA annual meeting in Flagstaff, AZ. If you are a member of the Riviera Owner's Association, you can post to the ROA list; if not, contact me and I can do it for you if you want.

There you will find some of the best advice regarding your Riviera!

    Yeah. That's not bad.

I live in a big city and have seen a bunch of car with really big wheels mounted. It's gotta be an acquired taste. Then again, "not my car."

Thanks for the suggestions! The car is for my 18 year old son. : I want to keep the nice Buick 15" Ralleyes on it but he wants another look:Do No: , so we will be searching for a good looking combo. My local Discount Tire is a good place as they will "fit" the rims and tires for us.
I will keep the 15" Buick wheels to change out when I am cruising in the car:laugh:
I hope to post pics soon.
