I'm going to need some GY PG from Kelsey Tire in about 2 months (I should have the money saved up by then). I'm currently trying to see who else might be interested.

got my bonus, so I'm in for a set of 5 GY PG whenever. I'm in no hurry (but shooting for before Martin to have the new shoes installed) as I still need to find some correct rims for my GT-37 to mount said PG. Maybe we can get a group buy together. Otherwise we can talk to Lon.

5? You putting a $150 spare in that car? Think you'll ever use it? The spare in my car has been there since 1969. If you ever want to see what a brick the old original Polyglas tires were, just look on top of my trailer at one of the races. I usually take it out.

I`ve often thought about the spare being in the car if it made a difference or not in traction an in times. What are anyone thoughts on that, any numbers to compare with a spare in the car an without.

For me, the spare helps. Any weight behind the rear axle works for you on launch. Close to a full tank of gas and the spare have yielded my best 60' times. 1.97 60' @ 4200# (Yes, I know....get the car fixed AND go on a diet!):eek2:

I have run both ways, with and without. Depends upon the track that day. Run totally empty at Norwalk as it always hooks hard there. Usually I run without it unless the track is greasy, or I'm running considerably better the day of the race than I did the day before in qualifying. Always run a full tank of 50/50 110 octane and unleaded premium (94).

Seems to me we ran with 2 or 3 spare tires(truck, trailer, and regular one)  in the trunk at Salem a few years back as the air changed radically from Friday qualifying to Saturday racing. Car got way too much faster than the day before with crappy air. That happens with me driving all the time. but not with Rob, who was driving that day, and "Austin Coyle" Gary Rubrich tuning it. He sure set the needle on "kill" that day.

I used to run all the time with no spare. I ran a spare last year and had more success. I just lay it in the trunk as far to the back as possible and over to the passenger side. I weighed my spare one time and it was about 50lbs. (15 x 7 Magnum 500 w/ a 235/60R15 Radial T/A)
