I'm curious about what yinz guys are using for street radials. I've run both Daytona and BFG's. I'm thinking of going back to Daytona's since I like the new tread design. Maybe Johnno can give us an idea on how they wear??

I just bought a set of BFG 245s. Dealing with polyglass for the last 6 years, I'm sure I'll like these better.

I asked the same question David, and for the money, people seemed to recommend the BFG tires.

Anyone have those redline radials I see advertised in Hemmings Muscle Machines? I don't know the manufacturer, but they look GREAT...I couldn't justify the $150 price tag.

For the ones who voted 'other', what tires do you run?

I'd like to be a little more specific...........I wasn't thinking of polyglass tires for street purposes. I've avoided polyglass just because the simple fact that I'm not looking for originality and prefer the superior handling of newer tires and tread design. I would like to know what "other" tires are being run. Whether they are polyglass or DOT drag radials.

Dunlop is the only way to ride.

Once you go Dunlop, you never go back.

I just put Diamondback redline radials on my Riviera. (Just couldn't go with whitewalls) So far, I'd have to say the Diamondback's are great! Pricey however.

I have a set of Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's on the GS. I haven't put many miles on them yet, but so far I have no complaints with them. They seem to handle well, even in the rain. I did have them get a little squirrely on me once, but I think it had more to do with the driving conditions. I was going 75 mph or better on a stretch of road that's not very smooth. The car was getting a little " light on it's feet ", not quite air born but close:Brow:

    Howdy all
For years I have ran the Firestone ss's. The ss-10's were the best of them all but the ss-20 was close. They did not have the grip on good corners. The new Indy is the same as the 20's with Indy all over it.
Loved the classic large letter brand all over the side but not the Indy. Next set for the 72 is still undecided.

Cooper Cobra's --- they sound like a dog getting cut in half when you spin em'

coopers are good tires but they are soft and go fast if you like heating them up. Which I am sure you know.

Though nothing beat a good burnt out like an old bias ply tire. I don't know why but they seam to roast better.

I've gotta tell you guys, the Polyglas GT tires on my Stage 1 really ride well and I was quite surprised how well these tires handle and grip the road. Plus, they look absolutely dynamite with the Buick rallye wheels.(of course,I've got the G60's with the 15x7's all around;just like the way it came from the factory). I tend to believe that Kelsey Tire changed the rubber compound-these tires do so much better than the original Polyglas tires.

BF Goodrich KDWS , I dont recommend em. Too hard of a compound and spin/slide too easily in the rain.

I have bfg's on now. And the set before were Kelly Charger. I like both.

BFG's are great tires, but they run a pretty good $$. I need to get some pics of Daytona's new tread design. They are harder than BFG's and they don't wear as quickly.

Being a Regal man, I never considered polyglass.........that would put me in one of the "don't" list for hotrodding. Regal with Polyglass?

When I bought my T-Type it had a set of Dunlop Citations 215/65. I'm not very thrilled with these, but its hard to get traction with such a small tire.......I guess they would be perfect for Johnno. They light up real easy!!

    NJBuickRacer I'd rather be racing...

I've had good luck running Nitto drag radials in the rear for street tires. They don't hook as well as BFG drags but last a lot longer. Pure street tires, I prefer BFGs hands down.

    Carl -

I just replaced my polyglas (after 6 years of driving the car) with BFG radial T/As - it's a night and day difference! The radials are much better tires for noise, ride, and handling.

But then again, I will never be trying to attain a 'concours status' since I drive my GS as much as I can.

See you in a couple weeks :TU:

i run bfg radial t/a on my 72 gs because i find them to be a good tire at a fair price , but michelin x on my 98 gs .
i have had 3 sets of goodyear radials on my last 2 cars ( 90 sse had 2 sets of eagles & 98 gs had eagle rs ) and what i have learned about the goodyears , is that they seem to love nails .
every goodyear tire had at least one patch in it , some 2 . my michelins , knock on wood , 3 years , no patches .
