When he realized that his wallet was gone he called the number on the receipt. They told him yes the wallet was turned in but that the money was gone. He had to drive back 100 miles to get it and had to drive another 75 miles further back to get to a 24 hour Western Union.

THANK YOU for your service! I try to make it a point to thank our service men & women whenever I see them. One of my best friends and shooting mentor, Dick Stempeck, was NSA in Vietnam. Never knew it until it was announced at his funeral July '08. My father-in-law served 65-66 until a paperwork snafu sent him home as being too old for active duty even though he was only 21:Dou:. Grandfather-in-law served in WWII.
Here is a pic of my oldest boy just after I pinned his expert rifle badge on him. He was top shooter in the Army Cadet Alliance annual training back in July. He hit 38 out of 40 to best the champion at the camp who had only shot a 35. The guy to the left in the photo is my father-in-law. He served in the Air Force. He was in recon

Fortunately, some people -- like Rip Rohring -- were raised right. Earlier this week a hotel maid in my town found a bag with $25,000 cash in it after a couple had checked out. (No it was not drug money; the couple were event promoters who had conducted an event the night before.) The maid turned the cash in to her manager who then called the couple's cell phone. They were a couple hundred miles away by then and didn't even know they had left the cash behind. The maid and manager were later rewarded with $100 each and, I'm sure, a great sense of satisfaction in doing the right thing.

coming back from a bad weekend vending @ Carlisle I found a $20 sitting on the step just outside a restaurant door. I picked it up, turned back into the restaurant where I handed it to a stunned cashier. I told her someone had dropped it outside, that it wasn't mine and I would gain NOTHING from having pocketed it. Turns out it was one of the waitresses of the place who had just left a few moments before me. Got a really nice thank you note from her:TU:

Thanks to all who've given! It's great there are those willing to help him out in his time of need. Cody made it home in time for our shop Christmas party (his dad works for us). Was good to see him.
