hi there guys. I recently saw a Tomo engine that was 480 pounds complete! Wow! So that brings up the question:

Where was the weight savings? I’m guessing the alum block can’t be too much lighter than a 455 block filled with hardblock full and a girdle?

It weighs more than a stock block and less than a girdled

Interesting. The alum heads and intake what about a 60 pound savings vs stock?

Complete Stock iron Buick BB is 596 on that same scale..

    Savings

    Exhaust manifolds- 40 lbs?
    Heads- 60 lbs
    Intake- 30 lbs

That's the majority of it right there..

Thanks JW, have you ever had a chance to weigh a 350? There is some controversy about the weight. Some claim 450 pounds all ready to go.
