My 72 skylark's top vents and defrosts are not blowing any air (never have since i have bought it, and finally want to fix it) the only place air comes out is underneath the dash, is their a broken cable or something that could cause this?

if you have any insight or can post the Service manual picture of the ac ducting Please help

    Thanks,
    Alex

    Hi,

Had this EXACT same problem with my electra and it was the vacuum line that goes from the intake manifold to the distribution block on the firewall..Vacuum from the intake controls all the switching of vents in my car, hopefully this is your problem..Everything works perfect now even the cruise control witch did not work previously..

Those vacuum hoses can be frustrating. Don't take them off without marking where to put them back. If the problem isn't a disconnected or leaking hose under the hood, it could be one under the dash.

Under the hood, there should be a hose from the manifold to a sphere (vacuum reservior) that is mounted on the firewall. Another hose goes from there, through the firewall, and connects to the switch on your climate controls.

If the small black vacuum reservoir is ok, your vacuum motor on the diverter door is bad. This item is located just to the right of the gas pedal. You can use a Mity-Vac brake bleeder hand-held vac pump to check for proper operation.

thanks, i got my vents working just it dosnt blow that hard? (i think it my be due to a vacuum leak still trying to find it
(checked around carb, replaced gasket, checked for various tubes disconected, pluged one, i think it went to an external cruise control (dont use it anyway) im thinking that the leak is coming from the intake manifold ? , my buick is only pulling 12")
my defrost now works, thank god, it was scary driving to school these past few mornings

now i need to get that a/c recharged, THANKS A BUNCH FOR THE HELP Getting it even blow air
