Tracking down a Q-Jet

I recently got a 72 Skylark with a 455. It has an Edelbrock Performer 750 CFM carb on it. I'm currently rebuilding the carb but I suspect a Q-Jet would be a better choice for my car. It sounds like most of them were 750 CFM but some were 800. How do I track down an 800 CFM Q-Jet so I can rebuild it? I did a google search and people are selling similar carbs (rebuilt) for over $400 and I can't spend that kind of money on a carb. If I get a Q-Jet I'll sell the Edelbrock on ebay.

    Thanks for any help.

  2. Hi Dan! I believe the 71 and newer Qjets were 800cfm. There are typically plenty of rebuilders on ebay at any given time, but if ebay isn't a place you like to shop, just post an ad in the parts wanted forum here on the board. I'm sure someone will have a good core carb for you, that you can rebuild.

    BTW, welcome to V8Buick :)

    Ummm

That is true, as long as it was for the 455's, not the 350's...:bglasses:

  4. True, gotta check the carb # to see if it's a 350 or 455 carb.

Thanks guys. I just lost a bid on ebay but found a possible one for sale by one of the members here.
