Hey guys I have a question. I have a 67 GS 340 and I just bought a 3.55 posi out of A 67 GTO. I want to use some sort of traction bar. This is because in the near future I am planning on putting a 430 I am building in it. I figured that I would get the car set up the best I can before I do it. Like swapping in a disk brake setup among other things. My guestions which setup would be better. I am looking at the lakewood traction action bar and the lakewood no hop traction bar. The traction action bar replaces the lower control arm and acts as a lift bar( by the discription from lakewoods site) The no hop traction bar looks like it relocates the upper control arm to change the instant center of the suspension. The discription of this part sounds like it does exactly the same the as the traction action bar but in a diffrent manner. It also said that it makes more room for larger tires to? I would like you guys view on which set up would be better. This car will see the track only a couple time a year while racking up alot of miles on the street. You guys have always given me valuable info in the past I will look forward to your replys

    thanks Adam

I've used nohop bars. They are OK for mild buildups. Once you make allot of lowend they actually provide to much traction. Using them does requires hp for the downforce they provide. Because so much power is being absorbed from the rear suspension to lift the car up you're rear wheels will recieve less power than if you had a properly adjusted rear suspension.

I think a better traction device would be adj. uppers. They are a little more $$ but easier to install and this way you could adj. the downforce needed to get only the amount of traction you need and send more power from the engine to the rear wheels to move the car forward. Hope this makes sense. Also boxed lowers are a good idea. Stock one are pretty weak.
Just another Opinion. Good Luck :TU:

    hi everyone!

i am also looking for improving my traction on my 1972 skylark. it has a 455, stiffer rear spring and shocks, airbags on both sides and hotchkis upper and lower control arms. i have also seen these lakewood bars and not hop bars. so if i understand you correctly, it is better to have the boxed lower control arms, adjustable upper control arms, stiff springs and shocks (and everything working together well).

i am also thinking og going to a 295 or 275 sized tire (from goodyear or BF goodrich) to increase my traction.

this is a street car but with all of the very fast production cars on the street, i am going to need all of the help i can get in the traction department!

    thanks
