I have 2 1/8" headers on my 1972 GS. I am using the factory shifter. What are you guys using for the shifter cable linkage with this set up? These headers barely leave any room for transmission linkage. Thank you. Tom
Tom, My memory is foggy on exactly what I did,But here is what I remember. I used a die to thread the end of the factory cable which allowed the use of a heim-joint / rode-end with female threads. Then I have a stud that is 3/8"-16 (I think) thread on the side that bolts to the factory lever on the trans. and the rod-end bolts to the other side that is like 10-24 thread. It is close to the headers but gives just a little more room than the factory stuff. I need to get the car out of my trailer and in the garage. If you have time to wait I'll snap a photo. Here's the type of rod end I used. http://i.ebayimg.com/24/!BP+hhewCGk~$(KGrHgoH-DcEkJw2KwwWBJ2hnZM2Jw~~_35.JPG
Thank you Gary! Do you have a picture? Do you know what size, or part number joint I would need? Thank you. Tom
Thread size and eyelet size were probably both #10. 24 thread would be fine for the dye and female part of the rod end. Car is in my trailer but I'll get a pictures if I get it out anytime soon.

I'm running the stock setup with no clearance issues at all. Where are you rubbing on the headers at?
