What is the best Transmission Fluid to use on a S/P 400? This is a Rebuilt transmission so I would like to use a good Fluid besides a synthetic fluid or should I use royal purple or something along those lines? :Do No:

If not going with synthetic, basically any name brand fluid should do well as long as it is Dexron III. I have had good luck with Mobil, Pennzoil and Castrol. My personal favorite is (believe it or not) Wolfs Head. It is reasonally priced at places like BJ's wholesale or Sam's club and I have used it for years in many of my cars.
Just my 2 cents of this,

I use NAPA Dexron III. It is made by Ashland oil co. if I am not mistaken which is Valvoline.

I use as much trans fluid as engine oil! I have rebuilt more transmissions than engines lately. Whcich is good news because they are cheaper to rebuild.

I tore a 700R4 down a while back that I have put 200,000 miles on while using NAPA fluid and it was in great shape considering these trans usually don't last this long. It was still working fine but didn't trust it to go much further and upon tear down the only thing wrong was the 3rd gear clutches had some of the internal teeth shearing off.
