trans yoke

    im trying to figure what type of yoke i have in my 70 wildcat 455 turbo 400 the yoke only has splines half way up the inside of the yoke the rest of the inside of the yoke is smooth any one with info in this yoke all the ones i find have splines all the way up would like to have a spare

    I have recent experience with this. The type you have slides over a seal on the output shaft, that is why is smooth the last couple inches. It will also have a hole pointing toward the u joint to allow air to escape and enter as it slides in and out of the output shaft. You must grease this style well upon assembly because the splines see no trans fluid.

    I had a new shaft built with 1350 u joints. The yoke I bought had to be shortened and splines machined smooth. So if you can not find what you need a different one can easily (cheaply) be modified for your application.
