Are you asking if you can bolt an Oldsmobile 350 to an ST300 transmission?

Your 1966 Buick did NOT come with a PowerGlide. No parts from an ST300 Buick 2-speed will interchange with a PowerGlide.

Also, no one on this board will encourage you to replace a Buick engine with another GM powerplant.

Buick 350's are readily available from several vendors.

the egine is a wild cat 310 that is 300 cubic inch with well over 240,000 miles on it and its just not reliable enough for me to use as a daily driver. it has 2 speed trans every one i talk to says the trans is a powerglide but i dont know much about the subject so im just going by what every on else says.
the olds 350 is a temp for the summer we found a 455 from a 71 buick riviera thats gunna be put in once i can get all the parts i need. but i need a car for the summer i intend to keep it all buick but i also need to use it for now as a daily driver.

    Lee,

Don't listen to people who don't know and don't know that they don't know, if you can avoid it, it makes life difficult. Buy some manuals for your car and learn... so you'll know... it's fun and relatively painless. Saves money too.

OK... the transmission. It is a Buick Super Turbine 300, or ST300 (a.k.a the JetAway in the Olds and the TempestTorque in a Ponitac.) It shares not one part with the Powerglide. It also has a two speed torque converter which is electrically activated, and is water cooled (Buick and Olds... single speed/air cooled in the Ponchos.) Tell those others to go learn some more.

Lucky for you, the Buick 300 (and Buick 350/400/430/455) and the Olds and Pontiac all use the BOP bell housing pattern. Your Olds 350 should bolt up without a problem.... but, a Buick 350 would be much easier: same radiator connections, same motor mounts, etc as the 300. Plus, there are some commonalities with the Buick 300 & 350 that you won't get with an Olds engine (distributor, oil pan, water pump, etc.) In fact, you might like the Buick 350 enough to keep it vice putting the 455 in the car. For street driving, the 350 would be a great choice for a well-balanced car, and more economical.

If you go to the 455, the ST300 won't hack it anymore. You'll need a stronger transmission. Best choices are the 700R4 and the 200R4, both of which can be built to handle 500 pounds of torque without a problem and offer overdrive as well. Both are bolt in modifications, with the 200R4 probably being the easiest of the two. These both come with the BOP pattern, as well as a 'universal' pattern (translation: will fit Chivvies, too...)

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
    John

cool thanks, now i can make fun of my freinds for being wrong about the transmission, lol. The 455 came with a trans and it only has 20,000 miles on it but i dont know what kind it is.. instead of asking ill just get a manual , lol but its gunna be a while before i can get that into my car because of lack of money and time.

THANK YOU AGIAN FOR ALL YOUR HELP!
