    Hi Kerry,

It has always worked for me but everyone should do what they feel comfortable with. I have found that the lip of the pan will sink into the wood which only helps to secure it more. On the other hand it may not be so good for an aluminum pan.

Kerry on a side note, the pipe plugs in the heads worked great , no more water in the valley  :TU: thanks for your help with that. Now all I need to do is figure out what is causing an off idle miss and I'll be ready to pour on the power. Its either ignition or a lean miss at light throttle but as bad as my fuel mileage is with this 462 I find it hard to belive it's running lean.:Do No:

Here are pictures of what I made last night. I have not tried it with the motor attached to the pan but it fits the 455 pan perfect. May have to be modified depending on what is attached to the block. I do not know how to have pictures show up automatically so you will have to click on them.

I made a quicky engine support with a couple of post ends from a split rail fence (they were like 3x8's or something) a 2x4 on the front, a 1x2 towards the rear to keep the post ends up straight and two pieces of 1x8 ceder siding on the bottom to hold it together. The split rail ends were tall enough to support the engine by the mounts. I attatched the tranny to support the back end of the motor. The thing was solid. I only put the rachet straps on to make it look good for the cops.
