Hi all I'm a member of the Turbo Buick Forum, have owned about 7 Buicks over the last 20 years, so I figured I would join this massive Buick Community! I didn't even know about the V8 Buick Forum untill recently, if you can believe that! Anyways..... Just in case anyone was interested in the triple black 70 GS 350 on eBay, I went to look at it yesterday (about 40 miles from me) and thought I would pass the info along: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2469855291 He bought the car in Sept of 2003 with the intent to resell and make a small profit. He did a few repairs and some detail work. The car was listed on eBay in Nov 2003 and didn't sell. Over the winter he did tires, exhaust, and undercoating. Now it is being re-listed currently. It's a very nice car indeed. Body is great, undercarriage is great, un-restored NC car. Very clean car. Engine compartment is nice. The chrome and trim is very nice. Mechanicals are great. The paint work is nice. I would say the paint is a 8 out of 10. Very straight. Overall it's a very nice #3 driver. Great looking 10-20 footer. Now for the negitive stuff..... - no buckets, no console, no gauges, no rally steering wheel..... really hurts this car. But that stuff could be added with time & money. - Paint is cracked pretty bad on the hood. - There is rust under the vinyl roof in the rear passenger side corner below the rear glass. I had three 72 Grand Prixs, and these cars are very prone to this. - Car is very clean underneath, but wouldn't consider it "rust-free" - The door jams are dissappointing. As nice as the paint is on the outside they should have spent a little more time on the door jams. It's a little crude in my opinion. - Vinyl roof looks nice but is a little suspicious, especially at bottom of forward windshield pillers. Probablly replaced. - The window roof seals are totally shot. - Rubber trim on top of doors along glass are cracked. - I would have to say the interior is the worst part of the car. The original interior is in "good" condition for it's age but far from excellent. It's going to need some attention. Carpet is faded badly, lot of the trim is poor, various warping panels, door panels are tired, gauge glass is a little foggy, and the dash chrome trim is very poor. All the chrome is worn off and looks bad. - They were real sloppy with the recent undercoating on the undercarriage. - The new exhaust is done pretty decent, but a local garage weld job with small pipes. - Cheap aftermarket triple gauges hanging from under dash. - Going to need 4 new shocks and control arm bushings. - Didn't drive the car so everything was done visually. That's all I can think of. It's a very decent car. I just felt the auction was a "little bit" deceving especially on the interior part. Also..... the guy who is representing the car on eBay was a nice fellow. He stated it's his car on the phone. He is away this weekend in Florida and said his buddy would show it to me. When I got there his buddy said it's HIS car and the title is in HIS name. Just a little FYI on a change in their story. When I'm looking to spend that amount of money, those kinds of things turn me off. It's hurts the "trust" factor when your trying to establish a good relationship. It states in the auction the paint is less than one year old. But when I got there the "true owner" stated the paint job is much older than that. Last but not least..... the guy who showed me the car (the true owner) was not a pleasant person to deal with. Was very quick to draw conclusions as to me looking over the car, very defensive, ignorant, and somewhat rude. I was interested in the car initially, but after looking at it in person and meeting the owner, I'm no longer interested. I thought I would post my findings here in case somebody in the community was interested in it but couldn't see it in person due to being states away. Hope it helps.
Welcome and thanks for the report. It says $9500 current bid with time to go . If this is a real bidder he better make a deal fast before the bidder changes his mind. We had another car down here that I passed on but was bought by another Board member. Sounds very close to the same car but I do not think it is. Price was $2800.00.
Thanks for the heads up on that car. I had been watching it on Ebay since it arrived. Your description will help me look elsewhere. Welcome
It also states in the auction..... "THIS CAR HAS BEEN INSPECTED BY SGS, THE WORLD'S LEADING VERIFICATION, TESTING AND CERTIFICATION COMPANY. I CAN PROVIDE AN ONSITE WEB LINK FOR FULL INSPECTION REPORT UPON REQUEST" Can somebody contact him for the website link and post it here? It would be VERY interesting to read that Inspection Report from the "Worlds Leading Verification Co" and compare it to mine.
