What nationally known basketball team did Bob Gibson play with before he bacame a Hall of Fame pitcher and two-time Cy Young Award winner with the St. Louis Cardinals?
Ding, ding, ding, ding Wow, got that one pretty quick didn't you Korrie? Bob Gibson played a few months with the Harlem Globetrotters upon graduation from Creighton University. He left the Globetrotters when the Cardinals offered him a contract. He played with the Cardinals from 1959 through 1975, with a 7-2 record in World Series games. Korrie wins today's warm fuzzy!!
And who played on a basketball team that lost more games than any other team in history??? Hint...owns a "few" Buicks
Man Korri your quick on the keyboard. Yep. Sam Davis use to play on the team that always played against the Harlem Globetrotters, they lost every game.
Rick...let's see how quick you are. What doo wop tune did the Globetrotters sing, circa early 70's? Hint....written by Neil Sedaka.
1143 in a row "Losses" Sweet Georgia Brown--that is there theme song!! You know the last season (69-70) I was there, if we would have played em on the square, we would have beat them about half the time. Sam
Try this one Korrie!!! OK Korrie. Let's check your trivial knowledge on this one. Who was the farmer from Dodge, NE, who met Ed 'Strangler' Lewis for a world wrestling title, July 4, 1916, in Omaha at the Douglas County Fairgrounds? o No:
Ding, ding, ding, ding Alright Cody!!! Joe Stecher it is!! :TU: Lewis and Stecher wrestled for five hours to a draw in the rough and tumble match. Stecher was known for his scissors hold and Lewis for his headlock. Warm fuzzy for cody!! :TU:
Rick....another hint for you. Or anyone else. Hint # 2 In 1970 DON KIRSHNER, the man behind THE ARCHIES and THE MONKEES, supervised (with Jeff Barry) a record album called "THE GLOBETROTTERS". One particular song is a pretty popular tune for doo wop collectors. Also in actual fact Meadowlark Lemmons was the only Globetrotter to sing on the album. Rest of the singers were from various '50s. doo wop groups.
