u need to have some brave soul ride is the trunk of the car and have him/her see if he/she can locate the rattle.
A common problem is the trunk lid torsion rods. Make sure one of them has a rubber hose around it. If it's not there, put it on and see if that fixes the problem.
i know that is one of the rattles but the other is the trunk lid itself if you push on the trunk lid there is some play is there a seal that could be missing?
Could be something sitting between the lid skin and the lower frame. If your lucky, it's a nut or something ferrous that you can fish out of there with a magnet-rod.o No:
Hi, On my 67 LeSabre there was adheasive between the inner trunk lid frame and outer skin. It let go making the outter skin rattle against the innner frame. I had to remove and reseal the rear window, when I was done I just squrited some windshield adheasive in one of the trunk frame openings between the frame and skin. Rattles gone. Bruce
My trunklid did the same. Last fall, I was using can of that expandable foam sealing drafts etc. around the house when I had an idea. :idea2: Just a quick squirt up inside of the bracing in a couple of spots fixed it, and you can't see it either. :TU:
I bet on the adhesive letting go between outer and inner skin on lid. Mine does the same. tap lid while open with hand and you should hear it.
Thats exactly what happened to my trunk lid - each time it was opened, you could hear and see small chunks of the old dried out black adhesive inside the lid and on the floor of the trunk. I'm gonna try Dale's fix ! :beer :TU:
i found the rattle it ended up being the fender skirt clip in the passenger side wheel well i haven't pulled the wheel off yet to see about correcting it yet though thank you all for your help
