Trunk latch painted?

Did the factory paint the latch mechanism inside the trunk lid? I am cleaning mine up and was wondering if it is correct to paint the latch body color.

Another question concerning my 69 GS; is there a gasket that goes under the GS by Buick flip up lock cover on the trunk?

 

Mine is not painted but I have seen some junkyard cars that were.

 

Don't think the originals were painted, but some may have some body colour from repaints ! :TU:

Neither have I. I was redoing my trunk lid and the latch mechanism had dug into the paint so I thought I'd ask. Maybe I'll just make one for it.

 

Is yours original paint? I have seen repainted cars with overspray on the latch but I don't recall original painted cars appearance.

 

The trunk latches were painted from the factory, unless remote trunk release was ordered.
No gasket was used under the 69 emblem.
