The screws that hold the vacuum advance on are half under a plate of some kind. How do I get these screws out so i can replace my vac advance?? and how do I get the old mech adv limit bushing off.

My recurve kit came today and Im trying to install it.

Please advise its getting dark outside.

    Thanks

    Gary

that plate should rotate, it is the advance plate that the vacuum advance actually moves. You can index it to where it needs to be by using a hand vacuum pump on the vac advance can.

If the can doesnt hold vacuum then the plate can be levered to where you need it using a screwdriver.

You have to rotate the breaker plate towards the vacuum advance cannister. Thats un-shrouds the rear screw so you can remove it. It helps if you have a MityVac or equivalent hand vacuum pump

There's really no way to remove the limit bushing without taking the distributor out, tapping the roll pin out of the grear and removing the shaft

ok thanks guys. I got the vacuum advance changed. It waasnt easy without a vacuum source but I did it. I took the distributor out to fix the hold down clamp flange. It had a burr on it . a big burr which was interfering with adjusting timing.

Now I cant get it started. Had it running... was going to dial in the timing and it just quit. now it just spits through the carb.
