I want to experiment with the jets in the 500cfm Carter AFB that I have on my '64 300 engine. From the color of the plugs, it appears to be running rich. Can anybody on the board tell me if the Edelbrock kits can be used with the Carter brand AFB?

Not everything is the same...especially the base gaskets. Get a Carter rebuild kit...they are available at most part stores. I tried using a Carter kit on my Edelbrock and ran into a few headaches. I have a '65 300 4V with a 1406 Edelbrock.

Sorry, misread your post. I did indeed switch rods between the carbs.

Thanks Aaron. During the weekend I visited a speed shop that I hadn't been in before. Can't believe that speed shops still exist. Anyway, he was able to source new Carter strip kits that have a bunch of different rods, springs, etc. Piece o' cake to change those things. Gonna make experimentation fun!

Cool...good luck and have fun! It really does make a difference in how the car cruises. The step up springs alone can make a big difference...

Thanks Phil. It's good to see that Buick guys are still looking out for each other.
