    Ok Guys,
At what power level does twisting an axle tube become a concern?
    Thanks

In my leaf spring camaro at 6 flat in the eighth mile i twisted the center section on both tubes.
With the weight of the car and et thats approx 900 hp.
It was an 8.5 10 bolt.
Matter of fact i put those guts in another housing and had tubes welded to center and have been running it for several years since then

    Thanks
Am I safe to assume that at my power level (500-550hp) I do not need to worry about welding the tubes?

It's all about traction. With street tires it doesn't matter how much power you have. If you're spinning, nothing is breaking.

I don't think there is a real answer to that question without knowing many more variables.

I am running MT ET street drag radials 275/50-15 with a 2500 stall and 3.08 rear end with TA nohop bars. It hooks very well, launches straight and hard. What other variables do you need to know? I am probably worrying about nothing but I like to ask advice from people who have been there done that like you guys.

U also have 2 upper control arms helping hold ur center in place. If i had those i probably would not have a hole in my tunnel lol

You not going to hurt it with that power, converter, gear combo.

On a side note be sure u have good shocks on the rear.
If u ever have wheelhop with those tires it doesn't matter what power level u have it will hurt your equipment!

I welded mine on our 3850 pound car running 10.90s. Pull 1.49 to 1.52 60ft.

I never thought about doing it before but Alf Weise said to do it when we installed his rear setup, wasn't hard to do

Yea radials are tougher on stuff than slicks for sure. It's one of those things it certainly won't hurt , but at the same time it wouldn't stop me from running it. If those 60's start getting down in the low 1.60's then yea twisted axle splines, welding tubes etc etc start becoming things to watch out for and doing

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

Just weld the tubes now, because you know darned well you are going to be adding more power sooner than later. It's a sickness. LOL!
