No bites on this one in chassis thread, so I'll try it here. What color is the underside of a 72 GS supposed to be? It looks like it was either semi-gloss black or semi-flat dark grey with overspray.Any takers?
Along the same lines, what about the floor inside? Whoever worked on the car before we got it painted it flat black, but I doubt that is original (it's at least very ugly).

I'll put money on the semi-gloss black with LOTS of overpsray, at least at the Flint plant. My ragtop had orange overspray right into the tunnel area....

    Go here for some pictures:

Further down there is a shot of the body on its side. You can see the orange right into the middle of the car. Most of the sheetmetal had been replaced at that point except for right in the center.

BTW, probably why you didn't get a response to your question in the other forum is that you posted at 4pm yesterday, things go downhill after that until the next morning. Its the weekend too.

    Hey Oak-

Check out this thread and this thread for some guidance on finishes.

Also, Jim Lore has some great pictures of his detailed '70 GSX resto posted here.

Here's some pics of my car after I pulled out the rug. It looks like body color paint was misted over some sort of primer. May car is Lime Mist, hence the green.
