I think CraigsList limits the number of pics a Seller can post ... and I think from the tone of the Seller's ad copy, he is trying to eliminate 'tire kickers' by just hitting the highlights of verifying real Stage 1 equipment (SS block, VIN#'s on block, etc.) and it looks like the car is wedged in between at least one other car. If the car has been in AZ for a long time and the body is clean, that would go a long, long way toward reducing costs of any kind of resto - drivers resto or concours resto ... Ken
I agree Ken. It just seems that lately the sellers want you to come see the car instead of sending detailed pics. When you finally agree and drive 5 hours one way to look at a basket case,it gets you a little upset. I know that there are way too many dreamers out there but if you plan to sell a vehicle long distance, better pics would be nice.....
I spoke with the seller. Seems open and honest with conversation and is trying to avoid "tire kickers." I'm hoping for pictures to verify details....
You are right, Slamjob, this is not a textbook example of marketing a vehicle to a national audience ... considering how rare it appears. The more I think about it, if it turns out to be as clean as the guy says and the #'s match and it can be put back together (no hole in the block), this is a decent deal and a straight-forward resto. Good luck, Rob, and post some pics that you get from the Seller once you make up your mind or "seal the deal". Ken
Phoenix usually has nice weather this time of year. This could be a gem in the garage? Did any one get the color codes?
By the limited pics, it looks like a Burnished Saddle exterior, no vinyl top and Dark Saddle Custom interior ... I would say. I think Burnished Saddle was an exclusive Buick color for '70. Ken
A rust free numbers matching Stage 1 (original SS engine, original BB trans, 3.42 original posi)for $11,000?!?!? If I wasn't a 68-69 person and neck deep in two cars, I would be on a plane this week.. If you had the money, NOW is the time to buy!!!! :beer
I think the seller is a board member who recently got into a flame war recently with a well respected Buick restorer in the NE (sorry, but the thread has apparently been deleted). If it is him, then proceed with caution. It does seem very cheap, and you know what they say about things that seem too good to be true. o No:
I can tell you that i tried to buy some fenders from the guy and sent repeated requests by email to no avail....he's the same guy that had the post a few months back with all the sheet metal for sale and no one could get together with him......good luck
