Is there anywhere to get an intake for the stock 2 barrel 350?

How could I do this? Is it really worth all the time it takes?

How much of a hp boost would I get?

    >>Do you mean you want a 4bbl intake to swap in place of the 2bbl intake? If so, ask on the board, or check ebay or craigslist. You will also need a 4bbl fuel pump to carb line, a 4bbl Quadrajet, and perhaps some fittings. Not a difficult job which will take a few hours if you have all the right parts and will add around 30 more horsepower if you have duals.

If you're looking for a stock, cast iron 4-bbl intake, then I have one for sale. It is in great shape. Let me know. Thanks.

The shipping would be expensive but I have a buddy here in StLouis that has a couple carb intake set ups for a 350

I have duals. I'm really serious about this build, but I know nothing about carbs. I know i'll need a new intake and the fittings and fuel line makes sense. What is a 4 bbl quadrajet? So if I did this it would take my stock 175whp to 205?

You will get about a 20-30 hp gain with a properly tuned 4bb that is the right size. The stock 4bb carb for your car is a Quadrajet, it is a 750 cfm unit. I would get out there and search the local junk yards and swap meets for an intake and carb.

Like Sean says, a "Quadrajet" is the original equipment 4 bll carburator for this engine. It is made by Rochester.

    >>If you already have duals then you are halfway there - swapping the intake and carb is not difficult. I went the reverse route - I did the 4bbl intake and carb swap first and now my Buick is in the shop to replace the single exhaust with 2.5 inch Magnaflow x-pipe dual exhaust.

Know of any swap meets or good junk yards for parts early to mid seventies in Portland?

Ask for any V8 members in your area on the bench... Someone here has the carb for you in your area.

I found a 4 barrel intake off of a 1968 buick 350, will this work for my 1971 350 skylark? What types of carbs will fit this intake?

Yes to the manifold. Stick with a 750 cfm Q-jet from a Buick 350. Lots of other carbs will fit, Holley, Edelbrock, Demon, etc. but most agree that the Q-jet is best.

ou can source a lot of this stuff online, try craigslist and/or ebay. TA Performance has an aluminum 4 bbl intake manifold for the 350's.

    Yes, it'll work just fine.

Stick with a quadrajet carb. They're reliable, easy to maintain, and you can do a ton of performance oriented modifications to them. Best to get one off of a buick, as chevys and such tend to use a smaller cfm. Buick's like to breathe, and putting a 750 or 800 cfm carb on it will deffinetly help. That, and as mentioned above a stock 71 350 4 barrell motor would have a 750 cfm quadrajet.

Just a quick note, this site has been the best place to find parts at for anything Buick related. Watch the parts for sale section, and feel free to post in the parts wanted as well. Chances are someone has something your looking for, and you can usually get them cheaper here than anywhere else.

Also, for new parts check out TA Performance. You'll find they have a good selection of parts, and come highly reccomended. Might be a tad bit more expensive than other places, but you can guarantee that they'll be right and that they stand behind their parts.

Hey V8sky what kind of exhaust are you getting? the MagnaPaks? I had a dual exhaust system from my mustang I sold. I cut out the Magnapaks and changed my old 2" exhaust over to a 2.5" exhast. With the magnapaks now on my Skylark, that car sounds mean. Now I have to upgrade my stereo. I'm not 21 anymore and the paks can get alittle annoying on long hauls. I was just wondering if you got the regular turbo style muffs and what they sounded like.

    >>Hi Nick,
Just last week I had my old original single exhaust taken out and a brand new stainless steel 2.5" Magnaflow X-pipe dual exhaust system put in (from the manifolds, no headers). This exhaust system is great - not as loud as the Flowmaster 40 series H-pipe dual exhaust that I used on a former car but definitely mean sounding especially when you get on it. Also gave a noticeable increase in HP.

    Electronic or manual choke? wtf?

    Sorry V8Sky, I disagree.
You want an electric choke or an "automatic" choke.
A manual choke is hand operated by a cable that stretches from the carburetor through the firewall and is mounted under the dashboard.
An electric choke uses electricity to heat a thermo spring which in turn releases the choke after starting a cold engine.
An automatic choke uses engine heat to do the same thing.
A properly adjusted automatic or electric choke is preferable to a manual choke IMO. :TU:
