Had a bad leaky rear drivers seal on the diff. Took it apart 2 weeks ago and discovered that I had put some axle savers in it about 20 years ago when I was broke (i had forgotten since then...)......In the process discovered that the passenger was also leaking slightly.... I did not want to risk putting new axle saver bearing/seals in and having it leak again - that seems to be a common story out there. The rear has a powertrax unit in it which is more of a pain to deal with when pulling the axles if I had to do it again. so.... upgrade time I decided to go with the Motive Gear TEN FACTORY axles, a Moser rear cover, and of course new bearings and seals. I was pleasantly surprised at the prices for quality axles/bearing/seal kits. $230.00 for everything. I did go back and forth on going with 4140 axles vs 1541H Alloy axles from other companies...but decided on the 4140 due to the slightly higher strength (supposedly...but I am sure it is debatable). Just buttoned up tonight. Can't wait to drive this weekend.
