Greg Smith, the cars second owner texted me a couple interesting pics. The first is a pic of my car he has in his garage during his tenure. Taken in the mid 80s. You can clearly make out the little dent in the fender. In that pic, it was just a 15 year old car. And a pic of his GS Nats plaques from 85-88. Looks like he raced in 85 and 86. After that he turned his attention to Shelbys.
508 is sitting patiently waiting for me to recover. Geez....car is filthy! And I dug out a set of Dill valve stem caps and managed to install one. All the strength I had! Back to riding the couch!
Turbo cars came with those, only in grey. I have a bunch of black ones. Are they original to our cars, Jason?
Black ones, yes. Grey...not on a 70. If you really want to go crazy, there are different fonts on the caps over the years, too.
The stems and caps were made by "Dill" and should have the number 627 embossed on it. The turbo cars had grey caps.
I was feeling so good today, I decided to install the 24 hour clock I converted to quartz back around Christmas. What a pain to get the clock out of an A/C car with a consolette! Dash pad, radio, ac ducts, glove box and consolette all need to come out. Had to drop the column a little and loosen up the cluster. And then I was just barely able to sneak out the clock. All back together and it keeps time. So officially everything works, even the damn cigarette lighter!!
Jason, sounds like your dose of divoC was like mine, down for a few days then full tilt balls to the walls
John's right. I need to chill out some more. Still have mild symptoms...but I've been riding the couch for a week. A few more days and they'll declare me legally insane.
Feeling 100%....cleared to go back to work tomorrow.....took the GSX out today and drove it to my friends shop. I've officially run out of projects!
