Why can't they simply make spiral core wires that appear correct with date codes and all. Who would know the difference?

They need to copy 1960's technology to be authentic! :)

Well then live with that technology and don't moan and groan about quality of today's parts. Carbon ribbon ignition wires were inferior back then. Those were the limitations of the day. Modern technology has made many improvements to our engine line.:)

Please! It's baffling why they don't.

Finally!!! I was able to score a set of old, crappy hood insulation for the "used GSX" as Duane coined it. Looks more fitting that the repro stuff I had in there.

This thread is really pushing me to give mine the “Cook” treatment.

Still chipping away at the details...

The coolant tank overflow hose was just a regular auto parts store hose. Brett Slater hooked me up with an original ribbed hose. The finishing touch!

I had put up a want ad for an original radiator top plate with an original wrinkly Stage 1 emissions decal. Long shot right? It just dawned on me today, I already had one.....idiot! Just have to clean it up a little and install it.

I had a Dave Johnson repro which is the gold standard of repro decals, just looked too good for a survivor type car.

The one I have has a nice, crappy wrinkled decal! Perfect for my junk

Just laid it on the support to get an idea

Nice work and progress. If I survive this JB economy I may need to come visit again...
