I also put new bulbs in the front courtesy lights today. Now all the interior lights work!

This weekend the carb and distributor go in and the gsx gets the super tune!

After that the plan is to drive the excrement out of it!

Tune up completed! I thought the car ran pretty good when I got it. Runs even stronger now. Stage 1 carb and distributor both done by Ken G at Everyday Performance. Outstanding work Ken!!

Replaced the broken trim on the drivers side bucket. Had the old trim saved from the aquamist car. I knew I saved that for a reason!

    Trunk light now works

    Map light now works

Gave her a thorough road testing. Probably put a good 50 miles on it. Runs really well.

Next up is getting the speedo and the gas gauge working again

Just curious Jay, do you leave the spark plug wires laying on top of the upper radiator hose?

Good question! Above or below? I usually leave them above and put the coil wire below. It's easier to get the cap out of the way.

Are those stock ignition wires? Typical, they never fit right to begin with.:)

They're standard brand. They fit pretty well.

JMO, but I think there is way too much slack just looking at the driver's side. Look at #5 and 7 wires, way too long. If it was me, I'd cut and re-crimp the distributor side of those longer wires. Would look a lot better IMO, but arguably not stock?

Gotta love the universal sets you cut to custom length. You can do that with the stock wires.

They'll do for now. Better than the wires that were on there

    Today's can o worms....

In cleaning out the trunk, I found a pair of original rocker molding straps. These are the metal pieces that tranision the rocker moldings from the rocker to the fender. Hmmm......why are these in here? I figured that someone had the moldings off and didn't put them back?

Off come the rocker moldings. Low and behold, someone put repro straps in. Why?? What's wrong with just cleaning up the old ones?? The repros are good if you don't have anything else, but the're nothing like the originals.

An added complication is someone replaced the original #8 screws with #10 screws from a hardware store. Hardware store screws on a GS gives me anxiety! I found an AMK screw that is a #10x3/8 that looks more "factory", so those are on order...

    20211017_185518.jpg

Ao on to the next project...the A pillar covers had the wrong screws.

    20211017_185428.jpg

Can't have that. I scrounged up the correct screws and installed them but not before noticing the rear view mirror needed some attention..

Here's a little before an after on the mirror

Looks much better. A mirror shine!

And of course, I think the guy installing the mirror at fisher body, crushed the wire!
