I bought Platicote spatter paint for inside my trunk. I didn't buy their clear because I was going to use a urathane clear with a flattener in it for more durability. I'm have not been satisfied with rattle can paint lately. It doesn't seem to adhere like the paint did years ago. I emailed Platicote and asked about using urathane clear over their paint and all they said is they recommend their clear coat. Has any body used a urathane clear over rattle can spray paint? I would hate to have it lift and and have to strip the entire inside of my trunk.

Most aerosol spatter paint is water based I believe so you should be fine, but I would spray some spatter on a test panel and try it first

1973gs I believe I've told my secrets before!!! Go to Parts store (PAINT STORE) Pic ( 3 ) under hood colors in paint deck. Under hood colors are flat solid colors. All real paint company's have these decks . (1) color flat gray (2) lighter version of the 1st color you pick. (3) flat TEAL ( very lighter bluer green) . This is so simple VO tech school kid can do it! now pay attention. (1) color dark gray spray at 45 psi. (2) light gray spray at 15 psi. with spray gun it will come out of gun in a splatter fashion. sway gun back and forth in slow motion do not overlap! 8 passes that's it! (3) light teal 15 psi 4 passes half the passes you did with second color gray! trust me keep gun at 15 psi. only on the last (2) color (1) color 45 psi. I put texture additive in (1) color so it looked like bed liner

I would never have an aerosol can 10 feet of my car

They only sell you clear coat because the trunk paint is water. With my (3) stage process no need for clear coat ! Spray bombs are for hacks! Put a big tip primer gun in your hand and spray away! you will love the results!

You need a BIG tip cheapo primer gun to get the SPLATTER effect! not only that but when it drys you'll rub your hand across the paint and it will feel smooth not dry and ruff like a gravel parking lot!

^^^^^ same way I do.mine but since I do 70/72 cars primarily I use hot rod black urethane, then mix up some aqua off the machine and like steve described low psi with a big tip 1.6 or so and move quick looks perfect and feels perfect
