I purchased The Best of Uriah Heep yesterday. I had forgotten how much good music they had put out back in the early 70's. Brings back some memories! Brian
Uriah Heep One of My Favorite Bands! Hey Brian, I was beginning to think i'm the only Heep fan left alive, most people seem to hate Uriah Heep.I prefer the "Old Heep" with David Byron on lead vocals. I guess i have every album they cranked out,got some of my favorites on CD now.Among my favorite Heep albums are "Demons & Wizards","The Magicians Birthday","Wonderworld", "Return To Fantasy" ,"Sweet Freedom" and "Look At Yourself". Comforting to know i'm not the only one that listens to Uriah Heep, can't wait to drive my GS with Heep blasting away.:beer
Glad to hear there are more people my age. Indeed great music. Sammy Hagar, Ted Nugent are my real favorites thx for bringing this up JA
I remember seeing Uriah Heep, Blue Oyster Cult, Wishbone Ash and Nazareth all on the same bill, then a few nights later seeing Michael Schenker Group at a small ballroom in MN. Those were the days for sure!!!! The first CD I'm playing in my car when it's done is UFO - Lights Out!!! That reminds me I need to go play guitar Chris
All the songs on this one have Dave Byron on vocals. It is good! UFO's live cd called "strangers in the night" is another favorite of mine. I have quite a large collection of 70's rock on cd's. I have replaced most of my albums with cd's. Except for the out of print ones. Brian
UFO Wow UFO fans. Rock Bottom.....Got "Strangers in the night" in my changer. Glad to see the thread! Goes great with the Cars we own. Good thing the stereo quality has improved since then. :TU: I also have quite the collection of 70' early 80's replaced. Thx Dave, for the Hagar heads up. JA
I knew there were some more of you folks out there. A couple of buddies and I listen to and collect music from this era while thinking we're the only interested ones left. Glad I was wrong. I have 720 albums and CD's from that period ( yes, I have them inventoried for insurance reasons). Love Schenker, UFO, Zep,Uriah Heep, BOC, Deep Purple,Floyd, etc. I have also tried to give newer music a chance, but very little of it interests me. I am just not that angry at the world, and besides, where's the melody??? All of the older rock compositions had melodic overtones, making the music listenable for hours at a time. I just missed RUSH here in ATL, but will be going to see YES in a few days... ROCK ON!!!!! Russ Waters 1970 Skylark Convertible 455 :beer
If anyone needs Copies of Zep, early 70's Stones, Deep Purple and Pink Floyd bootlegs send me a message and I'll give you my address and a list of what I have, send me a some blank CD-R's and I will copy what you want and mail them back to you. BTW is there any Neil Young fans out there? Chris
OH YEAH BIG fan Love them ballads. Got 4or5 albums stored in the MP3 form for burning. Waiting to install bigger harddrive for more MP3 downloads. I would be interested in swapping files with anyone as long as your vurus free. Looking also for some of Sammy Hagars older albums.
Sammy Hagar He (Sammy Hagar) is my favorite, seen him 5 times. I have many MP3's also. I also like Ronnie Montrose and have some Montrose and yes some Gamma also! Deep Purple, Ronnie Dio this kind of stuff also. thx again for this thread! JA
What about Sweet? Love is like Oxygen, etc. I haven't heard it on the radio in years, but my brother has all of Heep and Sweet on vinyl.
I almost forgot to mention Nazareth I thought about painting "Now you're messing with a suminabatch" on the back of my Stage, but decided that such things look better on Mopars. How about Thin Lizzy?
Thin Lizzy I don't think that they get the recognition that they deserve. I was just listening to Live and Dangerouse last night. Man those dual leads are incredible. Nothin better than a Les Paul screamin out thru a Marshall!!!!!! I remember when I was about 8 and I bought Thin Lizzy's Johny the Fox meets Jimmy the Weed on 8 track, Drove my dad nuts when my Mom would make him take George Jones out of the 8 track player in the truck on long trips. I still have a ton of 8 tracks in a box from back then. Kiss Love Gun, Styx Pieces of Eight, Pink Floyd Wish you were Here, and lots of other stuff. Now if I can find a working player for the GS Chris ------------------ 71 GS Convertible Now with 455 and 4 spd
Can't Get Enough Of The Heep! Since the Uriah Heep topic came up i've been playing lot's of it....makes me feel 15 years younger!I beleive my wife thinks i might be losing it!I think my favorite Heep song may be "Tale's" from the classic "Magicians Birthday" album. Anyone else got a favorite Heep song?i'd be interested in knowing........ :Brow: Just got shivers down my spine,i just just put "Wonderworld" on and "The Easy Road" is playing-awesome ballad!
Heepsteria! I never thought I'd see a Heep thread on this site!! I saw Heep in fall of '75. Brownsville Station opened the show. Heep was my favorite band (and very well still could be) because of their panzer driven sound layered with soaring harmonies and the demonic swirl of Ken Hensley's Hammond B-3 organ. The band was promoting their "Return to Fantasy" album and then included John Wetton (from King Crimson/Roxy Music) on bass to replace the loss of Gary Thain. (best bass in Europe...IMHO) VERY few bands sound like Heep and by the way they are still a potent force in England and Germany. Ken Hensley left the band in the early '80s and now has a Christian rock band called "Visible Faith" and do a lot of prison ministry work around the St. Louis area. Uriah Heep is still writing new stuff! Mic Box and Lee Kerslake are the only remaining members from those good days, but they still pound out those searing tunes!!! "Sonic Origami" is one to look for that is relativley recent. ROCK ON...
