I found a '66 Wildcat and a '66 Electra in a wrecking yard, both cars are in pretty good shape, not stripped/bashed/wrecked. Both cars still have their engines and SP trannies, verified by the huge "dimple" in the trans pan and 2-wire connection. Both cars look to not have been driven since the mid-late 80's, from the tags/stickers I already have a '72 TH-400 that I'm going to have rebuilt one of these days, I'd like to go with a SP setup. 2 questions: 1. What are the odds that the SP converters and other parts are any good, or is it better (and cheaper) in the long run to just get new parts from PAE or Trishield? 2. What would be a good price to pay for one of these trans + converters? They quoted me $75 for a core (already out of a car), $150 for a "good trans/converter" (still in car). My understanding is that unless they know the trans is bad when a car comes in, they leave it in the car, assuming it to be "good".
A great deal either way. go for it.. Even when you buy a s-p conversion kit from us or anyone else, you are not buying new parts, you are buying reconditioned parts. They just don't make new s-p parts . Jim Burek p.a.e enterprises
