i've seen a few guys that block off certain vacume lines, not sure why. is there a few extra horses hiding in the vacume lines?? i always thought that the carb needed those vacume lines to operate properly???

Some folks don't use all of their vacuum lines, but when you leave them open, it acts liek a leak and makes the car run like crap. Plugging the lines is the only real option if you don't need all the vacuum.

Also, some guys run later model q-jets and they have lots of extra fittings for smog crap, and those jsut end up getting capped.

If its not being used you need to plug it, it affects your fuel mixture as well.

An easy test.. Pull the line/cap off the larger port on the left top of the q-jet (looking at it) and go for a drive.. :spank:

If anyone caps that line, be sure to use a 'tight' fitting cap as not one or two, but three different q-jets have 'thrown' the caps off into oblivion.. Always on my way to PAW too.. Something about that place my car just doesn't like.. :puzzled:

I do know that there is one hose that I consider useless...... the ram air cleaner snorkel valves...... It holds them closed when vac is applied. When you stomp on it, and vac drops, they open up. I always unplug and block that goofy hose....always seems to run better and have quicker throttle response. It's that or take the darn air cleaner off completely and get a round 14" job.

Those bloody thermacs always seems to get stuck closed. I've cut out the valve on one and run cold air in from just under the windshield. Made a noticable difference.
