Ok I scrounged a vacuum trunk release from another cat. Everything works just fine. My problem is this. How does it fit into the locking mechanism in the trunk? I've looked at the schematics and it somehow just doesn't make much sense. There isn't any text with it in the Body manual, just the schematic. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know about the '63, but on the '65 there is different linkage on a vacuum lock vs. a non-vacuum lock. The shaft that goes from the key end through the actual lock and into the vacuum release has a swivel in it. The vacuum mechanisim has to be able to move the shaft (and therefore the lock) without moving the key end. Kind of confusing but you will need to get the lock linkage from the donor car or come up with a home made modification.

    Rick,
Thanks I'll give it a try tomorrow. I think I'm following ya. I've got all the pieces so it should work.
