It isn’t ‘metallic brown’, it’s Fireglow! Right rear quarter and bumper (mis)alignment along with the bubbles are concerns. I doubt he’ll get his asking; maybe soon he’ll accept an earthlier offer.

I put in a fairly low bid and expect the car to go to someone else. It's frickin' killing me.
If anyone here winds up with it, I have a correct date coded stage carb for it.

The problem with this car IMO is the motor being decked. Yes you can verify it’s a stage from the trans matching but can never verify original/matching motor and the carb and heads are suspect. From the pics you can see the top header bow looks rusted out or badly rusted which would imply that under the header vinyl is rusted and probably under parts of the top weatherstrip. You can be sure under the windshield stainless there is rust always is. From pics I would be suspect of bottom doors, lower edge of deck lid across back. I would also be suspect if outer wheelhouses and possibly parts of trunk drops needing attention. Not sure where all bondo is in car but that’s a issue as well because it’s always worse than it looks. On the flip side it’s definitely worth doing, resale is an issue with motor but Q color a plus. If this car is to have a complete frame off Resto then I think under 20k is reasonable. Too many costly surprises waiting at 22k and above. That’s my opinion.

I've looked at this car in person.

You could verify the part number cast on the block and the date code to see if it was made in the right time period for the car. You can also do that for the heads and intake. The block, heads, and intake should all have been cast within a few days of each other.

That would give you a good starting point.

That’s true that would get you close but still think there’s a price hit on re-sale if that’s what you intended for the car.

based on the pictures I have seen, the engine does not appear to be original. Doesn't look like it matches 446679H325669 to me.
