I may have the oppertunity to buy a 1970 to 1972 Sportwagon 350-2, air auto , blue with a blue interior car. I am not sure of the year at this in point.
I saw it once sitting in a griveway unused in rural NJ. I stopped and was told the owner may be interested in selling. It has blue rims with dog dishs. The driver door was crunched and needs a replacemnt. No noticable rot, but does have a rust patch on the roof. Paint job looks kind of cheapy ,like a Maaco.
I assume it runs. What should I pay or offer for the car. What would be the highest I should pay. Lets assume it runs and shifts fine.

    Dennis,

It's asking and bidding, so let the owner first do the talking and tell you how much he wants for it.

I would think something in the range of $2-3,000 or so at most if everything works and it's not a rot bucket.

    dennis,
I bought my 65 sportwagon for about 700 bucks, but cidi book says its worth between 4200 to 5800 dollars. dont know if this helps, but I know the car is a +5 value, meaning it is increasing in value.

Figure that if it is perfect it is worth $12,000 to $15,000 and start subtracting the value of everything wrong with it.
