Just wondering how the vapor (charcoal) canister vac lines are supposed to be routed. One goes to a nipple that connets to the frame of the car, and the other goes???

    Thanks,
    Kevin

(if it matters 72 lark, 350-4)

Bottom center of the carb I believe on my car.:puzzled: Although I can't remember what I ate for dinner.

    i don't think i have a center inlet.:puzzled:

and i'm not running out in my underwear to check. mayhaps tommorow.

but it's definately mid to top left (looking from front). on the other side is my vacuum advance for the distributor. on the lower left is the hose for the PCV valve.

This is the best pic of a qjet I could find on my computer... The red arrow points to the spot where my line hooks in. The top left (if you're looking at the car) is connected to the air cleaner tee.

jeez...I keep thumbing through the pics I have and nothing really is coming up that I can pinpoint. I'm not going to go snap a shot of the engine right now since I'm all hunkered down in my jammies:grin: Try this one....the top left fitting on mine is clearly routed to the air cleaner tee as specified on the radiator support tag.:Do No:

Okay.. Hose routing... What fun!!

Take the Q-Jet in Three Sections: Airhorn, Fuel Bowl, Throttle Plate.

The following should be correct for most all 72 and ealier q-jets.

Airhorn: Not a thing on it hose wise...

Fuel Bowl: Looking at the front.
Upper Left Large Fitting is Manifold Vacuum
Upper/Mid Left Angled Small Fitting goes to Secondary Vacuum Break canister
Lower Right Small Fitting is Ported Vacuum

Throttle Plate: Looking at the front.
Rear Center is for A/C Vac Can (black plastic box on firewall)
Rear Left goes to Choke Vacuum Break
Front Right Mid Size Fitting goes to Purge Canister
Front Left Large Fitting goes to PCV Hose

When tuning the idle with a vac gauge, use the left rear port on the throttle plate. Plug your vac advance to the large manifold port and plug the timing port. To see the secondaries in action, put a cap on the upper/mid left angled fitting on the fuel bowl section. Have after it a few times in park..

'73 added EGR port, and more and more BS year after year.

The above is by no means written in stone, it's my rendition of early style q-jets.. Anything I left out, please blame it on the C.R.A.F.T. :Dou:

    yup..

Goes to the bowl vent on the RH side of the carb, just below the air horn.

This is the original Q-jet on that motor, although it's a 72 GS 455 motor..
