I'm getting ready to repaint the vent motor assembly. There's a sealant I need to replace since it's cracking apart and I don't want it to become a moisture trap. What can I use as a replacement and where can I find it?

Also, it looks as if the motor is centered and and attached to its mount by a group of pinches made in the mount. Was the sealant involved in the centering as well, or can I break the old sealant off without losing the motor's centering?

What kind of paint would this have been coated with at the factory and what can I rattle-can onto it that'll be compatible?

You can probably use seam sealer on the cracking sealant...they sell it at most auto parts stores.

Duplicolor DH 1635 Ford Semi Gloss rattle can will do the job nicely.
