while the car is at the paint shop, i would like to take this time to change these out since they can be easily changed. anyone have a pair of new rear body mounts? or have a like to get these? buickbert
does one of the vendors on this board carry the set of them? how hard is it to do them all? whats involved? buickbert
If you want the original set-up, I believe CARS carries them...do a search here to verify the correct vendor. I use the set-up from www.opgi.com and they work for me....never had a problem. All you need to do is use a 5/8" socket to break loose the bolts and then use a jack under the car to slight raise the body from the frame. You can use a small section of 2x8 by about 12-18" long as a load distribution member to place up on the floor pan. You only need to raise the body about 1/2-3/4" The front ones, under the cowl, require more work since they have nuts. You need 2 people to do them since they are a little difficult to access the nuts. There 2 under the cowl, 1 under the center of the door and 2 by the gas tank......this is for each side....so a total of 10.
i believe that cars sells them in pairs. u will have to buy the the rad cradle support bushing/pads from cars, which i did. however, i purchased the other body bushings from fusick olds. u have to buy the convertible set to obtain the extra two bushings located at the base of the firewall.
